What are the main causes of hair loss?
Hair loss can be the result of many possible causes, from stress, vitamin deficiency, to cancer medications (chemotherapy drugs).
However, by far the most common culprit behind male hair loss cases (up to 90%) is male pattern baldness (MPB), also known as androgenetic alopecia. In this condition, the hormone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), weakens and shrinks the hair follicles - ultimately causing them to lose the ability to produce hair. This is MPB, and it commonly happens to most men around the world.
Is hair loss reversible?
Absolutely! Safe, convenient and effective treatment options are available for men experiencing hair loss. Medications such as DHT blocker pill and FDA-approved follicle reviver serum are approved for the treatment of male pattern baldness in men, and are effective in helping reverse hair loss and restore hair growth in up to 9 out of 10 men.
Other hair restoration treatments (such as laser therapy and hair transplants) are also available, but while effective, they are also generally more time consuming and can be expensive. Medications are generally a more convenient and affordable option for most men who are seeking less time consuming and less expensive hair loss treatments.
How do I know if I'm losing my hair?
Signs of hair loss are highly visible and should be familiar to us all. The main signs of hair loss would be gradually receding hairline, appearances of bald spots and/or a balding crown.
Your hair may become thinner or break easily, and you may also notice that more hair is falling out in the shower or when styling your hair.
However, if your hair loss is extremely sudden or rapid with no apparent pattern or cause, seek medical attention as soon as you can.
When should I start hair loss treatment?
Ideally you should start as early as you can once you or your doctor detect signs of hair loss, as medications such as FDA-approved follicle revival serum and oral health growth treatment (generally 3-4 months) to start showing results.
However, it is important to note that if someone is already completely bald for a while, it is unlikely for the medications to help. So the goal is to start treatment early to prevent further hair loss and to reverse the condition before it becomes permanent.
